DEB Shops Sees A 16% Lift In Revenue Per Visit When Using Social Discovery

Deb Shops partnered with 8thBridge to add a Pinterest-like social shopping layer to its ecommerce site to boost discovery, engagement and measurable sales. Launched in 2013 by the VP of eCommerce & Digital Marketing, the Curation & Discovery program used crowdsourced Style Boards to cover 85% of the product assortment and addressed the challenge of proving that social features would drive real commercial impact.

The solution surfaced user-curated collections via social recommendations and trending feeds so the majority of visitors—many of whom remain anonymous—could discover new, complementary products. Extensive A/B testing showed a 16% lift in revenue per visit for users shown social recommendations; socially engaged shoppers also demonstrated 36% more site visits, 24% higher 2‑year lifetime value, and a 220% higher conversion rate.
