Kansas Department of Transportation Partners with FlowWright to Replace and Upgrade Complex Workflow Automation

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) faced a critical challenge when the impending shutdown of legacy systems from K2 and Microsoft InfoPath threatened 43 vital internal workflows that had been developed over two decades. These automated processes, essential for HR, maintenance, and compliance, needed to be replaced without disrupting services for their 2,000+ employees. KDOT launched an RFP process and selected FlowWright as the vendor that best matched their technical requirements and budget.

FlowWright implemented a seamless transition by creating a new user interface modeled on the old one to ensure user adoption. The FlowWright team provided close support and training, working on-site with KDOT to transfer and test all 43 workflows. As a result, all existing workflows were successfully moved to the new low-code BPMS and are fully functional. The solution from FlowWright has provided a foundation for future growth, with KDOT staff already creating three new workflows and actively seeking further automation opportunities.
