Case Study: GÉANT achieves enhanced security reporting and network visibility with Flowmon Networks

GÉANT, the pan-European research and education network, needed a way to deliver security reporting across a vast, high-speed infrastructure spanning more than 50 million users and 10,000 institutions. Facing challenges such as high performance requirements, diverse router environments, real-time and historical visibility, and integration with third-party ticketing, GÉANT turned to Flowmon Networks and its Flowmon Collectors and Flowmon ADS ISP solution.

Flowmon Networks deployed two collectors in parallel to gather flow data from backbone routers, enabling detection of attacks, botnets, port scans, vulnerable services, infected devices, and other malicious activity. The solution was deployed in hours, followed by two months of custom development, testing, and integration before going live three months later. As a result, GÉANT gained network-wide visibility and security-as-a-service for its users, reduced incident reporting and handling effort, and validated Flowmon Networks for its performance, scalability, and anomaly detection capabilities.
