Giovanni's Fish and Chips Automates Online Ordering Using Flipdish

Giovanni’s Fish and Chips is a family-run takeaway in Edinburgh (est. 1969) run by brothers Lorenzo and Mauro. Facing a shift in customer behaviour away from phone orders and frustrated by costly, commission-driven food portals, Giovanni’s wanted its own mobile ordering channel. They partnered with Flipdish to deploy a white‑label online ordering website and personalised Android and iOS apps to regain control of their brand and customer experience.

Flipdish implemented a customised online ordering platform with apps, mobile‑first design, loyalty campaigns, push notifications and lower transaction fees. Since going live in May 2018 Giovanni’s saw a 43% increase in average weekly sales (May 2018–June 2019), saved 35% on fees compared to third‑party portals, and 61% of customers used a discount voucher to re‑order—delivering stronger retention and more regular app users thanks to Flipdish’s solution.
