How Wesleyan School formed their AI position and expanded learning possibilities with Flint

Wesleyan School, a K-12 college preparatory school, faced the challenge of responding to the emergence of generative AI. After an initial ban on tools like ChatGPT, they needed to educate their community, define academic integrity, and create a comprehensive school-wide AI policy. Their goals were to understand AI's role in a K-12 environment and get buy-in from every academic department for a responsible and intentional approach.

The school partnered with Flint to provide a safe environment for teachers to explore AI. Through an AI committee and using Flint's platform, they piloted the tool, which led to the creation of an extensive, eight-tier AI policy based on the SAMR model. Flint enabled teachers to personalize learning and transform lessons, resulting in widespread use across grades and subjects, from 4th-grade STEM to religious studies. The measurable impact included 1,424 students and teachers using Flint, who created 479 AI tutors and conducted 7,672 tutoring sessions.
