Sault Area Hospital (SAH), formed from the merger of Sault Ste. Marie General Hospital and Plummer Memorial Public Hospital, needed to design and build a new facility that could stay on budget, meet the development timeline, and support its goals of reducing service costs, improving collaboration, and improving patient outcomes. FlexITy Solutions worked with EllisDon and helped plan the hospital’s infrastructure from the blueprint stage, using a Cisco Medical-Grade Network to support integrated data, voice, and video communications.

FlexITy Solutions implemented a 10-gigabit medical-grade network with Cisco switching, wireless, and unified communications technologies, plus IP-enabled building controls, security systems, surgical suite video, RFID location services, and bedside patient terminals. The result was a future-proof, highly secure hospital network that supports clinical care across the continuum and enables remote surgical collaboration, bedside access to information, and improved operational efficiency. SAH now operates as one of the most comprehensive hospital network deployments of its kind in Canada.
