Tauw Saves Time Implementing Application Virtualization

Tauw, an international consulting‑engineering firm with 1,250 employees and 1,350 desktops across six European countries, needed to standardize and modernize application deployment during a migration from Novell ZENworks to Microsoft Configuration Manager and App‑V. The IT team faced the large task of preparing more than 500 applications for virtualization while reducing help‑desk overhead, reimaging effort and the cost of outsourcing packaging.

Tauw implemented Flexera AdminStudio and Workflow Manager alongside Microsoft ConfigMgr and App‑V to automate MSI-to‑virtual conversions and manage the migration workflow. AdminStudio’s touch‑free conversions enabled overnight batch runs (150 packages converted in one run) and cut app preparation time from about two weeks to one day, allowing packaging to be kept in‑house and reducing cost and staff effort, while Workflow Manager replaced ad‑hoc tracking with clear, standardized processes and visibility.
