A Flexera Case Study
George Mason University, a public university of nearly 30,000 students across four campuses, faced mounting IT challenges as it migrated its LAN infrastructure. The Division of Instructional Technology, which supports 1,500 nodes and classroom/lab applications, was hampered by manual “sneakernet” installs, inconsistent configurations across campuses and week-long deployment delays that disrupted teaching.
The university implemented Flexera AdminStudio with Workflow Manager to centralize packaging, automate job scheduling, maintain an application catalog and provide real-time workflow tracking. Within a year the rollout time was cut in half (from seven to three days), about 10 technician hours per week were recovered, costs and faculty complaints fell, and application deployments became faster, more consistent and easier to manage.
