Eastman, a global chemical manufacturer, needed to modernize how it delivered hundreds of applications to employees but had little visibility into its IT estate. Faced with thousands of servers, technical debt, and a goal to migrate more than 300 applications, Eastman formed a cloud team in April 2017 to prioritize and plan a full migration to a major cloud provider within three years.

Partnering with Flexera, Eastman used automated discovery and a custom application-scoring algorithm to prioritize migrations, identify high-risk manufacturing dependencies, and validate which apps could move to AWS. The data-driven approach turned opinions into facts, enabled 30/60/90 migration targets (30% in 2018, 60% in 2019, remainder in 2020), and delivered the clarity and ongoing support needed to complete the migration on schedule.
