EarthLink, a leading U.S. ISP serving over 5 million customers, needed a reliable way to deliver 3–4 monthly updates — including critical TotalAccess fixes and optional utilities — without overloading user bandwidth. They also required the ability to stage rollouts to subsets of users and gather adoption statistics while letting customers choose which optional tools to install.
EarthLink deployed a rebranded, self-hosted FlexNet Connect as the EarthLink Update Manager within TotalAccess2004, using background downloads, bandwidth throttling, staged distribution and built-in reporting. The solution automated critical installs, presented optional utilities for user choice, reduced support calls, improved customer satisfaction, conserved bandwidth, and provided actionable adoption data.
