CPU Tech Differentiating Its Security Hardware with Role- and Feature-Based Software Licensing and Entitlement Management

CPU Tech, maker of the Acalis® family of anti‑tamper secure processors for military, government and commercial customers, needed a way to lower manufacturing costs while offering flexible, feature‑ and role‑based licensing for both desktop and embedded deployments. They also required secure offline and web‑based activation, lifecycle and entitlement management, and the ability to automate upgrades without shipping different hardware variants.

CPU Tech implemented Flexera’s FlexNet Producer Suite for Intelligent Device Manufacturers to embed licensing and entitlement management in their hardware. The solution let them ship a single hardware SKU and unlock capabilities via subscription licenses (role- and feature‑based), support offline activation in classified environments, simplify lifecycle management, and enable easy upgrades/downgrades—reducing manufacturing costs, extending hardware usable life, and improving IP protection.
