California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) began a cloud migration and quickly realized it lacked visibility into the dependencies and topology of its on-prem IT environment. Working with a migration partner, the university adopted Flexera’s RAMP/CloudScape as part of the engagement to support migration of several Windows Server applications to AWS and to map application and system relationships.

CloudScape provided a holistic view of ports, protocols and system dependencies, grouped components for summary and detailed CPU/memory/disk/network metrics, and offered suggested instance sizing, storage requirements and IaaS pricing comparisons. That insight let Fresno State make data-driven decisions, remove guesswork, prioritize application migrations and correctly size and secure workloads in the cloud.
