A Flexera Case Study
Wesleyan University, a private liberal arts college in Middletown, Connecticut serving about 3,200 students and 1,000 faculty and staff, faced a time-consuming asset-management problem: IT technicians manually researched and recorded device model details for an internal service catalog, a process that could take up to an hour per item and left a small IT team overwhelmed. Preparing inventory reports similarly consumed roughly 45 minutes, diverting staff from higher-priority work.
Wesleyan implemented Flexera’s Normalize and Technopedia integrated into its ServiceNow workflow to aggregate, de-duplicate and standardize hardware and software data. The automation cut time to input a new hardware model from about 60 minutes to under 10 and reduced report preparation from 45 minutes to under 2, delivering roughly an 80% reduction in asset-management time, far fewer data errors, and faster, more reliable inventory and compliance reporting.
