Case Study: AutoNation achieves high-density, cost-efficient disaster recovery and improved availability with Flexential

A Flexential Case Study

Preview of the AutoNation Case Study

High-density data center capabilities drive car retailer’s cost efficiency and stability

AutoNation, the nation’s largest automotive retailer, needed a reliable disaster recovery solution to fully replicate its Denver production environment after its cloud-based DR proved unable to handle the company’s complex, high‑power applications. Facing legacy systems and cost constraints, AutoNation chose a high‑density colocation partner that could deliver the compute, power and cooling necessary to protect operations and maintain application availability during outages.

Flexential’s Texas data center provided purpose-built high‑density capacity (up to 2,000 W/sq ft), robust power and cooling, and 24/7 expert support, enabling AutoNation to consolidate its original 20-cabinet, 5 kW per cabinet design into seven cabinets at nearly 20 kW each. The move cut costs and cabling complexity, ensured full DR replication and uptime, and delivered scalability and service responsiveness to support AutoNation’s ongoing growth.
