GuideStar, a nonprofit organization that operates an information portal for charitable giving, required a highly secure and reliable data center solution to ensure the constant availability of its website and extensive database. Their challenge was to find a financially stable provider with engineering expertise, geographic diversity for data protection, and the scalability to support future growth. They selected Flexential (then known as Peak 10) for its managed colocation and virtualization services.

Flexential implemented a solution that included a dedicated colocation cage with redundant power in its Richmond facility and managed VMware virtual servers. They seamlessly migrated over 20 terabytes of GuideStar's data and later engineered a secure, encrypted VPN to Flexential’s Charlotte data center for enhanced disaster recovery. The results included an uninterrupted migration with zero downtime during critical projects, enhanced performance and security of the IT infrastructure, and a new layer of data protection that became a valuable feature for GuideStar's clients.
