Digital media company opts for colocation over augmenting internal data center

Rentrak, a global digital media measurement and research company, needed uninterrupted availability for its new box office data reporting product. After calculating the cost and complexity of building fully redundant systems in-house—including duplicate cooling, transformers and power—Rentrak concluded the project was impractical and looked to an outside colocation provider to meet its 100% availability requirement.

Rentrak selected Flexential and moved its TV processing servers to the Hillsboro data center, working closely with dedicated account teams to implement redundant infrastructure. The colocation solution delivered reliable, cost-effective uptime and global interconnection, enabling Rentrak to process over 120 billion transactions annually and establish its box office reporting as the industry standard.
