Case Study: Floyd Medical Center achieves uninterrupted patient care during COVID-19 with Flexential colocation and disaster recovery

A Flexential Case Study

Preview of the Floyd Medical Center Case Study

Delivering Critical Medical and Healthcare Intervention Amidst COVID-19

Floyd Medical Center, a 304‑bed regional referral hospital in a not‑for‑profit system serving Georgia and Alabama, needed to modernize its disaster recovery and primary data center to protect critical clinical, financial and patient‑registration systems. The challenge intensified when the hospital migrated production off an expiring lease during the COVID‑19 surge and simultaneously had to stand up field hospitals and new sites that required secure, immediate access to sensitive patient data.

Floyd selected Flexential for colocation and disaster recovery, moving production to Flexential Atlanta – Alpharetta with a DR site in Nashville – Franklin. Flexential’s redundant power, cooling, high‑capacity network (100 Gbps backbone), and audit‑ready security enabled seamless migrations with no unplanned outages, supported rapid telemedicine rollout (nearly 2,800 virtual visits March–May 2020), and provided HIPAA‑compliant, secure access for temporary care sites—letting Floyd’s IT staff focus on patient care and giving leadership confidence in the partnership.
