Case Study: Atrium Health Floyd safeguards patient data and maintains continuous care with Flexential colocation and disaster recovery services

A Flexential Case Study

Preview of the Atrium Health Floyd Case Study

Delivering critical medical and healthcare intervention

Atrium Health Floyd, a nonprofit health system with three hospitals, over 3,500 employees and more than 40 medical specialties, needed to strengthen disaster recovery and protect critical clinical, administrative and financial data as it upgraded its core data center and prepared to leave its primary leased site. The organization required a secure, compliant, highly available environment to ensure continuous access to EMR, patient registration and logistics systems that support everyday care.

Partnering with Flexential, Floyd moved production and DR workloads into Flexential’s redundant, audit‑ready Atlanta–Alpharetta and Nashville–Franklin facilities, leveraging colocation and data protection services, robust power/cooling, strong physical security and a high‑capacity network. The migration preserved uptime with no unplanned outages, supported a rapid telemedicine rollout (nearly 2,800 virtual visits in March–May 2020), helped meet HIPAA/PCI requirements, safeguarded patient data and allowed Floyd to remain focused on delivering care.
