A Flexential Case Study
A&R Logistics, founded in 1969, is the nation’s largest transporter of plastic resins with 800 trucks, 1,200 trailers, 23 terminals and 10 warehousing/packaging facilities. Backed by $1 billion in private equity and pursuing rapid growth, the company cannot tolerate downtime; when catastrophic, unexplained power problems hit its Chicago-area data center, A&R had to urgently fail over its production environment to maintain continuous service for customers and drivers nationwide.
Flexential stepped in with a hybrid IT solution—replicating 14 TB to its Recovery Cloud, accelerating failover, recreating production infrastructure in a Louisville colocation (even transporting and racking hardware over a weekend), and establishing disaster recovery in Atlanta using Recovery Cloud/DRaaS. The team completed what would have been a 14–16 month project in six months, delivering equal-or-better performance, uninterrupted operations, and a robust, scalable infrastructure to support A&R’s growth and ongoing IT support.
