Logistics Warehouse Dramatically Transformed by Lighting System Upgrade with Flex Lighting Solutions

Port City Logistics, operating a 180,000-square-foot warehouse near the Port of Savannah, faced a major lighting challenge after converting the facility from food to bulk storage: their existing T5 fluorescent system was poorly placed for the new racking layout, produced inadequate light levels, consumed excess energy, and incurred high maintenance costs. Working with Flex Lighting Solutions (Flex) and partner LED Lowcountry, they selected the Essentials Series 4.0 LED High Bay product to address these issues.

Flex redesigned the lighting floor plan and replaced 143 8-lamp T5 fixtures with 203 Essentials Series 4.0 LED high bays (with aisle lenses, 23,000 lm open-area and 15,000 lm aisle outputs, occupancy sensors and photocells). The upgrade tripled aisle illuminance (from under 5 to 15 foot-candles), cut energy use by over 80%, eliminated maintenance costs, and is projected to save $21,500 annually and roughly $215,000 over 10 years—while improving safety, operator productivity and overall facility efficiency.
