NEXTracker, the world’s leading provider of single-axis solar tracking devices, faced a critical need to securely connect remote solar fields to its cloud data centers without diverting engineering resources from core product innovation. To solve this, NEXTracker partnered with Flex and adopted SmartNexus by Flex, an IoT platform, to address complex secure data communications and compliance requirements.

Flex implemented SmartNexus to deliver an encrypted, bi-directional communications pipeline, APIs, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and managed secure data centers with backup/recovery and penetration testing. The Flex solution produced measurable benefits—cost reductions, fewer field visits thanks to remote OTA updates, proven compliance (including NERC‑CIP), improved reliability and productivity, and faster time-to-market—giving NEXTracker a clear competitive advantage.
