Creating Simpler, Richer Lives through Intelligent Personal Robots

Temi, maker of the temi personal robot — a voice-activated, open Android personal assistant — faced mechanical design and assembly challenges and cost pressures that threatened its plan to deliver an affordable, mobile consumer robot. To overcome these hurdles Temi partnered with Flex and engaged Flex’s Sketch-to-Scale® capabilities early in the design process.

Flex applied its Design for Excellence (DfX) and Design for Manufacturing (DfM) expertise, plus supply chain management, manufacturing strategy and logistics support, enabling a seamless transition from design to production. The work delivered a first NPI in two weeks, a 20% cost reduction from mechanical supplier management, test and assembly inputs, and kept Temi on track for global rollout in Q4 2018.
