Case Study: hereO achieves scalable global production of its children's GPS watch with Flex

A Flex Case Study

Preview of the hereO Case Study

Connected family start-up co-creates a design and scales production of first GPS watch designed for small children

hereO, a connected-family start-up that developed the world’s smallest real-time cellular GPS Watch for kids, faced the challenge of turning a successful launch and growing global demand into reliable, high-volume hardware production while improving battery life, connectivity and ownership costs. To prepare for a 2017 global launch and scale from small batches toward tens of thousands of units, hereO partnered with Flex and tapped Flex’s Sketch-to-Scale™ and Design for Manufacturing capabilities.

Flex redesigned hereO’s product for manufacturability, implemented Liquid Silicone Rubber overmolding to mold silicone directly onto electronics, and built a sustainable high-volume production line—reducing assembly steps, manufacturing costs and turnaround times. As a result of the Flex partnership, hereO freed up resources to focus on product and partnerships, expanded distribution across Europe and the US, and positioned itself to scale toward 100,000 units while advancing a broader pipeline of connected‑family IoT products.
