Cold Storage Company Saves 13 Million kWh’s Annually with Flex Lighting Solutions

Cloverleaf Cold Storage, a leading cold‑storage warehousing company, needed to reduce energy use, eliminate heat from incumbent HID lighting in sub‑zero freezers, improve workplace safety, and add advanced monitoring and controls in its 300,000 sq. ft. facility. Working with Keen Technical Solutions, they selected Flex Lighting Solutions’ Essential Series 4.0 LED high bays with an integrated control system to address these challenges.

Flex implemented one‑for‑one replacements of 170 600W HID fixtures with the Essential Series 4.0 LED high bays and an occupancy/scheduling control system, improving illumination, eliminating fixture heat and enabling remote monitoring. The upgrade delivered up to 90% energy savings—about 824,224 kWh annually (roughly $125,510 saved) with a ~1.8‑year payback at the site—and was rolled out across nine additional Cloverleaf locations, yielding an estimated 13 million kWh saved company‑wide.
