Smart parking systems using advanced technologies to create efficiencies

Smart Cities Parking Company faced growing urban parking stress—under‑utilized spaces, traffic congestion, wasted time and excess emissions—prompting a need for an automated, secure solution. Flex was engaged to deliver an IoT-enabled Smart Parking System (SPS) combining sensors, cameras with deep‑learning car recognition, RFID backup and the proprietary XANDER CS cybersecurity platform.

Flex’s team at Plant 5, in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Perlis, designed and deployed the SPS in three months, implementing camera‑based occupancy detection, license‑plate recognition, zoned access control, RFID fallback, and three dashboard panels with real‑time data pushed to an IR4.0 database. The Flex solution provided immediate, encrypted updates to drivers and operators, automated reporting and four‑layer XANDER CS protection—improving parking utilization, reducing driver search time and associated fuel use, and delivering measurable operational uptime and data security improvements.
