How Texas A&M Leverages Flashpoint To Mitigate Risk

Texas A&M University System sought to protect the vast amount of sensitive data accessible through its university portals. Their Security Operations Center, led by Deputy CISO Nick McLarty, faced challenges from compromised credentials due to widespread password reuse, which created significant risk for internal networks and third-party applications. To rapidly identify these exposures, they partnered with Flashpoint and implemented its Compromised Credentials Monitoring product.

By leveraging Flashpoint's platform, the team could swiftly uncover stolen credentials, flag accounts, reset passwords, and identify indicators of compromise. This solution enabled them to prevent account takeover faster than before. The results were substantial, with Flashpoint identifying 395,000 compromised credentials to date. The team recouped 72 hours previously spent on manual investigations, allowing them to focus on more complex security challenges and implement stronger policies like more frequent multi-factor authentication.
