A Fivetran Case Study
Ignition Group, a South Africa–based global business in technology, media, telecommunications and financial services, faced an aging on‑premises data warehouse that was frequently out of sync, slow, and disconnected from key sources—forcing manual workarounds in QlikView and leaving the company blind to reporting during outages. To modernize their analytics stack, Ignition Group adopted Fivetran alongside Snowflake and Microsoft Power BI, using Fivetran’s connectors to centralize data from sources like Google Analytics, Facebook, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL and more.
Fivetran automated data ingestion into a Snowflake warehouse and enabled broad Power BI adoption, cutting query times to a fraction of a second and increasing active Power BI users to 300 (100 building reports). The move saved about 6 million rand (~$426,000) and the equivalent of three people’s work over two years, grew data sources from 2 to 10, shifted the data warehouse team from 10% to 100% value‑creating work, and shortened project delivery from 2–3 months to 2–3 weeks.
