A Fivetran Case Study
Sharethrough is the largest independent native advertising platform, serving billions of monthly impressions for major publishers and brands. Their custom MySQL analytics pipeline had hit capacity limits, lacked a semantic layer, and required complex, manual schema knowledge—routine reports could take 30–45 minutes and many analyses were impractical. To modernize ingestion of raw JSON logs and SaaS data, Sharethrough adopted Snowflake as the core warehouse and Fivetran for automated data extraction and loading.
Using Fivetran to sync multiple sources into Snowflake and ingest raw logs from S3, Sharethrough consolidated a 40 TB cloud data warehouse, eliminated interim storage, and reduced its analytics stack from 14 tools to four (AWS, Snowflake, Fivetran, MicroStrategy). With Fivetran in place, syncs from four sources complete in under two hours, report/query times dropped from minutes (or tens of minutes) to seconds or sub‑second for many jobs, daily reporting rose to 500–1,200 reports with average create time under four seconds, and overall analytics performance improved by about 2,000x while being managed by a single staffer.
