Sharp HealthCare, one of Southern California’s largest healthcare systems, needed a better way to manage data scattered across on-premise systems, SaaS tools, SharePoint folders, and vendor portals. Its engineering team was spending most of its time maintaining fragile custom pipelines, while critical clinical, security, and workforce data lived in silos and was difficult to access reliably. To support faster insights and better patient care, Sharp turned to Fivetran and its automated data integration platform, including the Epic connector.

With Fivetran, Sharp HealthCare automated data movement into Snowflake, replacing manual extraction and custom scripts with managed CDC-based pipelines. The result was a 20x increase in data integration capacity, a drop in pipeline maintenance from 90% to 10% of engineering time, and annual savings of $1.15 million, including $287,000 in the first 90 days. Fivetran also helped Sharp deliver faster clinical reporting, improve data quality and trust, and free engineering resources for higher-value analytics and AI initiatives.
