Fast, Reliable Data Access Helps Phenix Fight Food Waste

Phenix, a French “tech for good” nonprofit that redistributes unsold food to people in need, needed a new data architecture to turn website and application data into actionable insights about donations, re-valuations of unsold products, and tons of food saved. To solve this, Phenix adopted Fivetran’s connectors and managed ELT service to centralize data from Salesforce, NetSuite, Intercom and public sources into a BigQuery data warehouse and feed dashboards in Looker.

Fivetran provided scalable, prebuilt connectors and hosted dbt transformations so Phenix could sync 30 million lines of data per month with minimal upkeep; the managed service saved six months of development time, reduced maintenance to under one hour a week, and saved the equivalent of half a full-time data engineer’s salary. With Fivetran, Phenix now generates key metrics (tons saved, breakage rates, CO2 impact, re-valuations) for weekly reports, accelerated data-driven decisions, and simplified GDPR compliance.
