Copel, one of Brazil’s largest utility companies, needed a faster way to move high-volume Oracle billing data into analytics systems so finance and product teams could work with fresher information. Its existing replication approach couldn’t keep up with scale, created engineering overhead, and left teams making decisions from data that was days old. To support real-time analytics and future AI use cases, Copel turned to Fivetran.

Using Fivetran’s log-based CDC, Copel replicated data from six Oracle billing databases into Google BigQuery in under four weeks, with updates every five minutes and minimal impact on production systems. The new data foundation reduced receivables visibility from days to minutes, improved cash flow forecasting, enabled AI and RAG use cases, and helped launch new smart-meter subscription services projected to generate $3.3 million in annual revenue, while also creating packaged datasets for insurance and security partners.
