A Fivetran Case Study
Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), a global mining and energy company, needed a more reliable way to move data across remote sites and regional offices as it expanded into new markets. Its existing custom-built pipelines were costly, inconsistent, and frequently broke under unstable network conditions, making real-time decision making difficult. SQM turned to Fivetran and Databricks on Microsoft Azure to modernize its data movement and support fresher, more trustworthy analytics.
With Fivetran, SQM replaced fragile pipelines with idempotent, automated data integration across critical systems like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Salesforce, and ServiceNow. The results were significant: pipeline recovery time dropped by 98%+ from about two days to near-instant resolution, new pipelines were deployed 99% faster, and the team centralized data across locations without increasing headcount. Fivetran also helped reduce integration costs, improve governance, and support real-time AI/LLM use cases for global growth.
