Fishbowl Manufacturing Helped to Define Employees’ Roles and Standardize their Operations

The KidWind Project, a nonprofit that builds hands-on STEM resources for classrooms, was managing inventory on paper and struggled with inaccurate counts, undefined employee roles, excess stock, and QuickBooks’ limited manufacturing features—especially after adding a Magento storefront. To solve these problems they turned to Fishbowl Inventory and its Fishbowl Manufacturing solution.

Fishbowl Inventory implemented Fishbowl Manufacturing to automate inventory, enforce defined functions (Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing), and integrate with QuickBooks and Magento (via an add-on). The centralized system improved build-to-order processes, eliminated discrepancies between systems, and helped staff settle into roles; KidWind cut on-hand inventory from about $270,000 to $80,000–$100,000 (roughly a 70% reduction) and now tracks manufacturing and orders from a single hub.
