Chung’s Gourmet Foods, a Houston-based maker of egg rolls, pot stickers and frozen Asian entrees, faced outdated DOS/Excel systems that forced manual checks of shipments, lengthy month-end closes, no prior-period access, and no automated purchasing-to-payments workflow. To modernize and centralize operations they implemented Fishbowl Warehouse (integrated with QuickBooks) from Fishbowl Inventory to replace spreadsheets and disparate processes.
Fishbowl Inventory automated receiving, inventory tracking, production costing and order distribution, giving Chung’s a single trusted source of truth and the ability to view purchase price variances and product-level costs. The new system trimmed month-end close from over a month to seven workdays, eliminated monthly physical counts and the need to hire three additional employees (saving thousands monthly in payroll), and—along with outsourced IT—delivered about $25,000 in annual IT savings while helping identify near-expiry stock via aging reports.
