Science Museum Group launches Explore It, Make It! with fish in a bottle and 100 interactive artefacts

The Science Museum Group sought to develop an engaging digital resource to grow science capital for children aged 7-12 and their families. They partnered with the vendor fish in a bottle to create "Explore It, Make It!," a project that faced the challenge of applying creativity to real-world artefacts without misrepresenting facts while being sensitive to their background and history.

fish in a bottle developed the solution, which featured two main activities: an Object Gallery with 100 artefacts to explore and a Postcard Maker for creative, shareable projects. Utilizing PixiJS and Three.js technologies while ensuring WCAG accessibility standards, the vendor crafted an interactive experience that successfully resonated with the target audience. The project effectively balanced fun and educational content, supporting the Science Museum Group's strategic ambition to foster a lasting interest in science.
