How Trinity Health Sent 3,000 Letters to Local Legislators in 3 Days and Changed an Important Vote

Trinity Health, one of the largest Catholic health systems in the U.S. with 92 ministries in 22 states, faced a fast‑moving local challenge: a county vote in Albany, NY on a Tobacco 21 ordinance that risked losing momentum with only days to act. The organization needed to mobilize local supporters quickly to influence roughly 30 county legislators before the Monday vote.

Using the FiscalNote Advocacy platform, Trinity Health targeted the relevant Albany legislators and sent a concise, urgent email to employees at St. Peter’s Health Partners asking them to take action. Ninety advocates generated nearly 3,000 letters in about 48 hours—enough to deliver roughly ten letters per legislator—reviving the campaign, earning public recognition at the hearing, producing a veto‑proof margin, and securing an overwhelming passage of the ordinance.
