How CDOT Uses Technology to Communicate With Residents across the State

The Colorado Department of Transportation needed a reliable, accessible way to keep residents across the state informed about highway construction and future transportation projects while enabling two‑way dialogue with affected communities. Reaching diverse, dispersed audiences and collecting timely public feedback were central communication challenges.

CDOT used Access Live technology — combining phone outreach, audio streaming, and interactive online participation — to run 61 live events over six years featuring executive and project-level speakers and real‑time polls. The program reached more than 2 million participants, called nearly 185,000 people by phone, gathered actionable feedback, and strengthened transparency and relationships between CDOT and Colorado residents.
