The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is a ~25-person organization that represents more than 14,000 travel agencies and advisors. With an advocacy team of three, ASTA faced the challenge of tracking complex legislation and regulations across federal, state and local levels, maintaining continuity with lawmakers, and quickly mobilizing members—especially during the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ASTA implemented FiscalNote and CQ News for centralized legislative and stakeholder tracking and used VoterVoice to build and segment grassroots campaigns and submit regulatory comments. The integrated tools let the small team run far more campaigns (14 in 2020 versus four in 2019), drive record engagement (25,000 people on a CARES-related campaign and 680 regulatory comments), grow membership, and demonstrate clear advocacy ROI while successfully staging hybrid advocacy events.
