U.S. Insurance Provider, a long‑time FIS client, was running a highly customized, 10+ year‑old release of FIS Retirement Services and Solutions and operating three independent recordkeeping platforms acquired over time. The multiple legacy systems were costly and cumbersome to maintain and upgrade, preventing scale and slowing time to market for new enhancements and digital initiatives.

FIS consolidated and modernized the environment by sunsetting the old release, migrating the client to a hosted model, taking full ownership of back‑end recordkeeping infrastructure, and moving them to the latest release of FIS Retirement Services and Solutions. The work reduced future upgrade and maintenance costs (>$1M saved), retired 600+ custom COBOL programs and eliminated 350k+ lines of code, while allowing the U.S. Insurance Provider to outsource hosting, upgrades, security and disaster recovery and refocus on digital engagement and portals.
