Case Study: National Capital Bank achieves significant asset growth and modernized omnichannel banking with FIS HORIZON (FIS)

A FIS Case Study

Preview of the National Capital Bank Case Study

Modernizing a Venerable Washington D.C. Bank.

National Capital Bank (NCB), the oldest bank in Washington, D.C. with four branches and a goal to reach $1 billion in assets, found its 12‑year‑old core banking platform unable to support the omnichannel products and services needed for growth. To modernize, NCB selected FIS and implemented the FIS HORIZON core platform, moving forward with the conversion during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

FIS delivered the HORIZON core and enabled advanced e‑banking, treasury management, new payment options, improved sales and relationship management, and broader MIS reporting; the NCB and FIS teams shifted to virtual processes to complete the conversion on schedule. The upgrade helped drive measurable growth—total assets rose from $485M (June 2019) to $600M (August 2020)—reduced the bank’s efficiency ratio and strengthened NCB’s competitive positioning.
