A FIS Case Study
Major International Commercial Airline Company, a North America–headquartered carrier serving more than 180 million customers annually with over 80,000 employees, faced a fragmented global payments environment. Its SAP ERP and bank portals could not flexibly handle diverse, changing payment types or real‑time processing, leading to manual workarounds, redundant controls and inconsistent bank connectivity. The airline selected FIS and its Trax payments engine (integrated with Quantum and connected via SWIFT) to meet its global payments, treasury and AP objectives.
FIS implemented Trax with Quantum integration and SWIFT connectivity to standardize bank channels, automate accounts payable, payroll and treasury workflows, and eliminate customized host‑to‑host links. The solution consolidated roughly 300 bank accounts across 42 countries, automated bank statements and centralized reporting—enabling the airline to process over 350,000 payments and 6,000 statements per month through Trax—reducing manual effort, lowering SAP maintenance costs, improving payment security and increasing cash visibility as FIS expands Trax rollout globally.
