A FIS Case Study
Greene King, the 200-year-old brewing and hospitality group that owns and leases thousands of pubs including The Queen’s Head in Wokingham, wanted to modernize payments to meet customer preference for cards and improve speed, security, and reconciliation. FIS (via its Worldpay service) supplied contactless card acceptance, including portable Ingenico iWL250 terminals, to give staff the ability to take payments anywhere in or around the pub.
FIS’s Worldpay solution enabled acceptance of major debit/credit cards, contactless and mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay), plus 24/7 UK support; the result was faster, friction-free transactions, reduced cash on premises and easier reconciliation — the landlord reports she now takes more card payments than cash. FIS’s offering helped drive measurable operational benefits aligned with wider sector trends (contactless adoption and a high share of “tap and pay” transactions).
