IKEA Reduces Extended Workforce Risks with Background Screening Partner

IKEA, a global retail company, faced challenges with managing risk and ensuring consistent safety standards within its extended workforce of third-party delivery vendors. Their previous decentralized background screening process, managed by individual vendors with varying quality, led to several annual incidents that threatened customer safety and brand reputation. To address this, IKEA partnered with background screening provider First Advantage and its XtdForce™ service to implement a centralized, high-standard screening program for all contracted workers.

By leveraging First Advantage's services, IKEA gained consistent visibility and control over screening, virtually eliminating the previous incidents. A measurable result from 2019 showed that 14.2% of the 3,055 workers screened were identified as ineligible for hire due to criminal records. This partnership with First Advantage significantly mitigated risk, protected the IKEA brand, and provided greater assurance for both the company and its customers.
