Streamsoft, a software company that serves thousands of customers with its STREAMSOFT Prestz ERP system, needed a database platform that could support efficient, safe, and stable operation for a wholesale and retail building materials business with 12 wholesale branches, 6 retail branches, and about 300 employees. The company’s challenge was to keep its ERP and database highly reliable while handling heavy daily transaction volumes across a distributed operation.

Firebird provided the database engine for STREAMSOFT Prestz, with the system running on Firebird 2.5 and connected through a terminal server setup using VPN, RDP, and a Linux Debian database server over LAN. The solution supported 150 user stations, a 100 GB database, and about 4,000 documents per day, or roughly 88,000 per month. Streamsoft reported very positive results, highlighting Firebird’s performance, stability, and trouble-free operation as key benefits for their ERP platform.
