A Firebelly Design Case Study
The Newberry Library, a major research institution in Chicago, faced the challenge of a brand identity and website that no longer represented its depth and modern activity. Seen primarily as an archive of old items, it struggled to communicate its vibrant events and resources to a diverse audience. Firebelly Design was engaged to develop a new branding strategy and web experience to address these issues.
Firebelly Design created a comprehensive new verbal and visual identity, starting with an expansion of the library's iconic logo to build a cohesive system featuring new typography and a versatile graphic element. They then constructed a new, easier-to-navigate website that consolidated content and improved search functionality. The solution provided the Newberry with organized processes for future communications and successfully transformed public perception of the institution into a dynamic destination for exploration.
