A Firebase Case Study

Preview of the Pomelo Games Case Study

Pomelo Games uses Firebase to increase revenue by up to 35% without losing players

Pomelo Games, a top game studio in Uruguay, needed a way to improve monetization in its hit free-to-play game Once Upon a Tower without upsetting players or hurting retention. The team turned to Firebase to test whether adding interstitial ads could boost revenue while preserving the game’s fair, player-friendly experience.

Using Firebase Remote Config, Firebase A/B Testing, Google Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics, Pomelo Games ran controlled experiments to measure the impact of ads on revenue, purchases, retention, and stability. With Firebase, the studio saw a 25% increase in AdMob revenue, a 35% increase in in-app purchases, and essentially no change in retention, then expanded these data-driven practices across its game portfolio.
