GameNexa Studios, an India-based app developer and consultancy with more than 40 apps and games, faced a sharp drop in ad revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic as advertisers cut budgets and in-app purchases also declined. To recover, the company turned to Firebase for a data-driven way to diversify monetization and better understand user behavior.
Using Firebase, GameNexa segmented users with Google Analytics and tested ad frequency, placement, and in-app purchase offers with Remote Config and A/B Testing, while also improving app quality with Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. The results included a 2.5x increase in in-app purchase revenue, 6x higher IAP conversions, ad revenue restored to pre-COVID levels, and fewer crashes and ANRs, all without hurting retention or user experience.
