Kent County Council Commercial Services drives customer satisfaction with Fiorano

Kent County Council’s Commercial Services arm, a self-funded and IT-independent trading entity, needed to automate a new electricity purchasing and billing service for around 2,000 sites across the UK. The challenge was to rapidly deliver enhanced remote billing capabilities, including printable PDF invoices for customers who still preferred paper statements, while handling annual invoicing volumes of about £150 million. Fiorano Software was selected to address the tight timeline and reduce dependence on a .NET-only approach.

Fiorano Software implemented its Message Driven SOA / ESB-based integration approach to connect the electricity purchase, validation, and customer billing processes and to support fast development of new functionality. The solution enabled Kent County Council to launch flexible, automated billing with PDF output and scale the service across many local government customers, helping the organization become vendor independent and add new services more quickly.
