Qwest Communications, Inc., a leading provider of voice, video, and data services, needed a scalable way to process billions of monthly call records accurately and on time for billing. In a highly competitive telecom market, the company had to expand processing capacity quickly as demand changed, while supporting a mix of Java and C++ applications. Fiorano Software’s FioranoMQ messaging platform was selected to help provide the flexibility and reliability required for Qwest’s billing support systems.
Using Fiorano Software’s FioranoMQ, Qwest built a distributed, JMS-based processing architecture that let multiple servers handle call records and billing workloads as needed. The solution delivered smooth installation, strong technical support, interoperability between Java and non-Java systems, and the ability to scale easily: Qwest added three Windows NT servers to its original three with no problems. As a result, FioranoMQ gave Qwest the growth and processing capability it needed to support future billing demands.
