Nordea’s London Branch was struggling with multiple legacy payment systems inherited from its predecessor banks, resulting in heavy manual intervention, inconsistent customer payment narratives and fragmented charging processes. To standardize and automate payments and give customers clearer visibility, Nordea turned to Finastra and deployed Fusion Payment Manager (with the Funds Transfer module) as its chosen payment platform.
Finastra implemented Fusion Payment Manager as a central payments hub (a six-month project with two Finastra consultants), consolidating systems and automating routing, mapping and fees. The result: straight-through processing rose to about 97%, staff costs fell by 20%, customers are charged once monthly with clearer statements, and the improved platform enabled new services and rollouts to other international units — demonstrating clear operational and customer-impact gains from Finastra’s solution.
